Yes...the tournament is ON this year!  Though the location and format will be different than usual, we want to provide this culminating experience for your seniors and teams...so we have found a way to do it!  It'll be smaller than usual (a maximum of 56 teams), and the COVID situation is requiring some different things (see the "Tournament Format" section below) -- but we have found five gymnasiums in our area willing to host, and your costs will still be the same as usual (due to a donation that makes the event possible this year - otherwise the event would not have been affordable)...and we will be livestreaming every game from every gym, so that all parents can watch their kids play!  We have had an overwhelming amount of interest expressed this year, and we anticipate that the spots will fill VERY quickly...so REGISTER ASAP if you are planning to attend this year's event!

Registration Deadline:

The 2021 NCSAA Basketball Championships are open to girls' varsity basketball and boys' varsity basketball teams.  Teams from any region of the country are welcome to attend.

This tournament will be limited to a maximum of 56 teams (comprised of a maximum of 32 boys' varsity basketball teams and a maximum of 24 girls' varsity basketball teams).  Register soon in order to be sure to claim a spot!

The final registration deadline is February 19, 2021 (or whenever the spots fill - we anticipate that the spots will fill VERY quickly this year). At that time we will close registration to begin making the brackets and schedule for the tournament.

Tournament Format:

  • This tournament will be limited to a maximum of 56 teams (comprised of a maximum of 32 boys' varsity basketball teams and a maximum of 24 girls' varsity basketball teams) -- which will compete in as many as six boys' basketball and five girls' basketball divisions.
  • Teams will be placed into divisions (Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, etc) based on the results of Opening Round match-up games and / or based on pre-tournament seeding (depending upon the total number of teams registered).  We put a lot of work into making sure your team will be placed in a fitting division where you will have a good competitive experience; that commitment is one of the distinctives of our tournaments.  If you have any question about divisional breakdown, please feel free to contact us with your questions.
  • Homeschool teams are welcome to participate, as long as their players meet our eligibility requirements.  (1 - All players must be regular members of your team during the season.  2 - High school graduates are not permitted to participate with your team. 3 - All team members must be homeschooled or not a member of any other school or homeschool basketball team.)  If you are a homeschool team that is interested in participating, please be sure that your players meet these requirements.  Feel free to call for clarification, if necessary.
  • Age Eligibility: A student-athlete shall be ineligible for participation upon attaining the age of nineteen years, with the following exception: if the age of 19 is attained on or after July 1, the student-athlete shall be eligible, age-wise, to compete through that school year.
  • We are taking the necessary and required precautions to be certain that the tournament is held safely this year.  Please read more about the COVID protocols in the "Tournament Format" section below.

Tournament Features and Information:

Tournament Description:

  • The NCSAA Basketball Championships offers an exciting post-season championship tournament experience -- in a Christ-centered environment -- for your basketball teams.  Highly-organized and hosted at excellent facilities, this event allows teams of all sizes and levels to finish their seasons with the challenge and reward of a competitive post-season tournament.

Tournament Format:

  • This tournament is open to Christian and private schools from any region of the country. The tournament will be limited to a maximum of 56 teams (comprised of a maximum of 32 boys' varsity basketball teams and a maximum of 24 girls' varsity basketball teams) -- which will compete in as many as six boys' basketball and five girls' basketball divisions.
  • Boys and girls in grades 7-12 are eligible to compete.
  • Each team will play three or four games during the tournament.  If you have any concern regarding the number of games your team might play, please give us a call.
  • The COVID situation will require us to do things a bit differently this year.  Due to the current requirements in the state of Pennsylvania, face masks will be required in all gymnasiums.  Coaches and players will need to wear masks at all times in the building -- including on the bench -- and athletes will be required to wear face masks during competition (with exceptions granted for athletes with respiratory issues that impede breathing or for whom wearing a mask would exacerbate a disability).  The schedule and set-up at gymnasium will allow for safety protocols (spacing out bench seating and scorer's tables, timed entry and exit plans, etc).  In addition, due to gathering limitations and the requirements at our host gymnasiums, spectators will not be permitted to attend the games (only teams and essential staff will be permitted).  However, we will be livestreaming every game from every gymnasium -- so that parents and school communities can watch all of the teams play!  We want to do EVERYTHING we can do to still provide an exciting and meaningful tournament experience for your teams, even in an unusual year -- so you can count on us to do so enthusiastically and safely!
  • More details on COVID protocols will be provided to teams after they register and in advance of their departure for the event.  If you have any questions about those things now, feel free to contact us for more details and clarification.  Thanks!

Closing Ceremony and Awards:

  • Each team's final game on Saturday will be followed by a short closing ceremony, which will include a special time of recognition and prayer for each team's senior athletes.  Each senior athlete will receive a special gift from NCSAA.
  • Awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each division.
  • A number of players from each team will be named to an All-Tournament Team and will be presented with specially-designed NCSAA All-Tournament Team patches to recognize their selection to this team.
  • At the end of the tournament (that evening or the following Monday), we will host a Facebook Live video announcement of the division winners and the all-tournament teams.  Watch for an announcement regarding this so that your school community can tune in!
  • Each team will also have the opportunity to nominate players for consideration for the annual NCSAA All-American Teams.

Christ-Centered Environment and Team-Building Opportunities:

  • Because we'll be unable to host larger group gatherings this year (Coaches' Meeting, Opening Program, Friday evening program, etc), due to COVID protocols, we will provide the Opening Program this year via Facebook Live -- which will include a tournament welcome, information for all teams, and a time of devotions and opening prayer.  We will also livestream a time of devotions each morning during the tournament; we welcome your teams to join us for that time, as we do desire to encourage all teams spiritually during their time at this year's event!  There will be no formal coaches' meeting; coaches will complete on-site registration and receive tournament details and coaches' packets when they arrive at the gym for their first game.

Beneficial Exposure for Your Athletes:

  • Every game from every gym will be livestreamed via NCSAA's Facebook page(s) -- thus allowing families (and anyone else who would like - college coaches, included) the opportunity to watch all teams and athletes play.  We're excited to be able to provide this service this year...Thank you to the individuals who have volunteered their time to make this possible!

Five gymnasiums have generously offered their facilities to us, making it possible to hold this year's tournament.  The addresses of the five gyms are:

Portersville Christian School - (will host girls' games)

For GIRLS' teams traveling into the area for this year's tournament, we recommend that you consider staying in the Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, area.  Staying in this area will put your teams in a good area to easily access main highways that lead to Beaver Falls and Portersville -- and Cranberry Township is located about an equal distance from those different areas.

For BOYS' teams traveling into the area, we recommend that you consider staying in either the Robinson Township (Coraopolis) area or nearer to the city of Pittsburgh (as the boys' games will all take place at the three Pittsburgh area gyms).  You could also use the Cranberry Township area, as the provides good access to Pittsburgh -- but is a little further away from the city.

Let us know if there are any ways that we can help you with your travel plans, at this time!

Team Registration Fee (per team, per event):

$450 for NCSAA full member schools (paying members)
$500 for non-member schools

Become A Member!

Your registration fee is non-refundable, except in the event of the cancellation of the tournament.

All teams are expected to pay their full registration fees by the registration deadline date.  Any exceptions to this rule must be discussed with and approved by NCSAA.  If you have any questions regarding this procedure (or if you are already late with your payment), please contact us ASAP.

Individual Athlete Fee:

$25 per athlete

* Each team pays athlete fees for a maximum of 20 athletes.  You are welcome to have more than 20 athletes on your team, but you will not need to pay athlete fees for athletes past 20 total.

Individual athlete fees are due upon your arrival at the tournament. (Most schools have their athletes contribute to cover this fee.)  If you have any questions regarding these fees, please contact us ASAP.

The individual athlete fee covers and provides access to all tournament activities and services to the athlete.  Our costs in putting on this tournament exceed the total amount of entry fees collected, so the athlete fees help to pay the costs of this event.

Withdrawals:

We understand that occasionally there may be reason for a team to withdraw from a tournament, after having already registered. If any team must withdraw after already registering for the tournament, that team still will be expected to honor its commitment to pay the full team registration fees. NCSAA must budget based on the number of registered teams, and all fees for all registered spots are critical in order to plan for and conduct a successful tournament. Thanks for your understanding of this!

In addition, any team that withdraws from a tournament one week (or less) before the start of a tournament will be required to pay an additional $200 late withdrawal fee (per team), in order to allow us to recoup extra expenses that will we incur in such a circumstance.  If you do have to withdraw after having registered, please do so as early as possible -- to avoid this extra fee.

Lodging and Meals:

Teams can make plans to stay in any location of their preference, but we suggest the Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, area.  Staying in this area will put your teams in a good area to easily access main highways that lead to Pittsburgh, Beaver Falls, and Portersville -- and Cranberry Township is located about an equal distance from those different areas.

We hope to soon publish a list of suggested restaurants in Cranberry Township, as well as near each gym location, to help your teams make their meals plans.

Let us know if there are any ways that we can help you with your travel plans, at this time!
